Are You Saving Money Buying Clothing?

There are plenty of ways you could be saving money buying clothing. If you aren’t saving money right now, it’s time to learn the ins and outs to start. This is especially true if you have children. Since they tend to go through surprise growth spurts, a few tips can help you save quite a bit.

Practical Tips to Save Money Buying Clothes:

Plan Ahead at the End of the Season

Clothing stores tend to put just about everything on clearance at the end of the season. You may not need these items until the next year, but you can always pack them away for a new wardrobe next season. Sometimes you can even get clothes for under a dollar at the end of the season. This makes end of season shopping well worth your while. If you happen to be buying for your children and they still can’t wear them the next season or they happened to grow more than you expected, you only lost a couple of dollars. You can probably even get more than you spent by selling the item online or a yard sale.

Gently Used Means Nice and Comfortable

Saving money buying clothes often involves buying gently used clothing. There are plenty of places you can go for quality items that happened to be used. Resale stores, online auctions, consignment shops, and online groups are always great for getting gently used clothing. Sometimes you can even buy ‘lots’ of clothing for a very small price. This means you end up with plenty of clothing for your wardrobe and maybe even a few extra pieces you can sell.

You can even start a kids clothes trade group with friends. Pass clothes around that you’re child has outgrown. You can end up with mountains of clothes for FREE. Once your child finishes with the clothes, you pass them on.

Recycle Your Own Clothes

To get the most out of what you have, recycle your own clothes. Adult long sleeves can be made into pants for small children. Adult shirts can be made into dresses for little girls. Even a pillowcase can be made into a cute sundress for a little girl. Need new t-shirts for the boys? Add some graphics to an old t-shirt to spruce it up. You are only limited by your creativity and it can be great fun as well.

Compare online and in store prices

Most people shop for clothes in person and that is understandable. The reason most commonly cited it because they can try it on for fit in person. Why not go shop and try on in person and then shop the product all over? Get your size down pat and then go online to see if it is cheaper. You might be shocked at the savings you find online. Give it a go and you might never look back. Make sure to check the online coupon code database to help!

Saving money buying clothing doesn’t have to be a chore. You can be in style and looking good without carrying the weight of a heavy price tag.
