Whether you are watching your waistline or just want a delicious breakfast, these tempting jars of Apple Cinnamon Baked Weight Watchers Oatmeal are a filling and healthy choice for a quick breakfast. I chose ingredients that are known for their weight loss or health benefits. The three main ingredients pack a healthy punch that makes this a perfect breakfast choice.

Cinnamon is known to help control blood sugar levels, aid in weight loss, prevent stomach bugs (cinnamon is highly anti- bacterial), as well as aid in alertness and memory. Apples provide soluble fiber and regulate your blood sugar. While oatmeal is filling and is another excellent source of fiber that also helps control blood sugar. Aside from all the health benefits this baked oatmeal is simply fabulous!

Weight Watchers Oatmeal Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 1⁄2 cups old fashioned oats
1 tsp. apple pie spice
2 tsp. cinnamon
1⁄2 tsp.baking powder
2⁄3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3⁄4 cup unsweetened almond milk
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 apples

Directions:

  1. Place 1⁄2” of water in a baking dish.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°
  3. Peel and dice apples finely.
  4. Combine oats, apples, apple pie spice, cinnamon, baking powder, applesauce, brown, sugar, vanilla extract and almond milk in a medium sized bowl, stir until all ingredients are well combined.
  5. Divide oatmeal mixture evenly among 4 pint mason jars.
  6. Sprinkle tops with additional cinnamon.
  7. Place jars in water bath.
  8. Bake for 16-18 minutes until top is lightly golden.
  9. Remove from oven, cool slightly.
  10. Poke several holes to bottom of oatmeal, add a Tbsp. or so of additional almond milk (or skim) to the top of oatmeal when you are ready to eat.

Do you refridgerate them to use during the week? If so, do you heat them in the microwave before eating?

Yes, you can prepare many jars in advance and put in the fridge. Complete step 10 (adding a bit of milk) when you are ready to eat – before heating in the microwave. I like to put in a bowl before microwaving. I’m always nervous heating up cold glass.

    Hi!
Are these points calculated as smart points or on the old program? Thanks!

These points are still based on the old system. I’m working to get the recipes updated with the new Smart Points program.

Could I make this in a casserole dish? I’m not really into cooking things in mason jars, but the recipe sounds delicious!

It should work well in any baking dish. Just keep an eye on the oven since the baking time will vary. Let us know how it turns out if you don’t mind.

Does this work with simply filling?

It should work with simply filling but you might need to make a couple adjustments. I don’t think the almond milk is on the list of foods, so maybe substitute in soy milk? Also, brown sugar isn’t on the simply filling list, so consider a sugar substitute.

If you try this route, please let us know how it turns out. I’m sure others are following the simply filling method as well.

I thought this was a Instant Pot recipe? Doesn’t even mention it , I was searching under Instant Pot recipes for weight watchers ..The last page I was on said this recipes was an Instant Pot, but according to the recipe it’s calls to put it in the oven?

This is not an Instant Pot recipe. I’m not sure what page you were on that implied this. If you’re willing to use an oven, it’s a delicious WW recipe.

I got to this exactly the same way — searching for InstantPot recipes and this came up.
