Budget Savvy Diva breaks recall newsfirst! So make sure to check out Budget Savvy Diva everyday to keep informed

Hyundai announced two new recalls for the compact Elantra. The recall covers nearly 200,000 units to address concerns that airbags may not deploy properly.

The first recall is for 188,697 units of the 2007-2009 Elantra over concerns that the front passenger airbag may deploy in a crash, even if it’s supposed to remain inactive.

The seat in the Elantra has a sensor to activate the passenger airbag only if an adult is sitting in the seat, an attempt to prevent injuries to a child if he/she was sittting in the front seat.

The second recall, which covers a subset of the first recall, includes 95,783 2007-2008 Elantra units over concerns that the second stage of an airbag could deploy even if the driver is sitting very close to the airbag.

Hyundai will start notifying owners starting April 8 for both recalls.

A few things I’m working on:
More pet & organic posts & my home renovation series.  Since I’ve slacked on the series, I’m working on writing up the series entirely before I start posting again.

Get Ready for Spring with 1001picnicbaskets.com

by Dana Zeliff on March 18, 20112011-03-18
in Worth Reading

With the official First Day of Spring right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about ways to enjoy the warm weather.  What better way to enjoy the sunshine than heading outdoors for a picnic?  All you need is good food packed in a modern picnic basket with a blanket to spread out on, and you can have a relaxing afternoon enjoying the change of season.

I don’t know about you, but a picnic basket for 2 sounds even better!  Don’t get me wrong.  My kids and I love to have picnics together, but sneaking out my hubby is my idea of a good date! Pack lunch or wine and cheese and get outside to enjoy each others company.  If you can’t get away from the kids for an afternoon picnic, put the kids to bed early and lay out under the stars in your own backyard.  Enjoy good food and time just being together.

Recall Alert: Lean Cuisine Simple Favorites Spaghetti with Meatballs

by Dana Zeliff on March 15, 20112011-03-15
in Worth Reading

Looks like Lean Cuisine put something a little extra in their meatballs – red plastic pieces !!!!! The only good news is that they are calorie free

The packages have a product code of 13800-10390 and a product code 0298595519 P.

The company also said that due to the product’s popularity, it believed little was left at retail (scary) It asked anyone who had the product to call (866) 606-8264.

Nestle said it was recalling Lean Cuisine Simple Favorites Spaghetti with Meatballs packages!

Budget Savvy Diva was the first frugal blogger to break this story – check out Budget Savvy Diva for more recall news plus more!

Men Save Money Monday: Magazine Subscriptions

by Dana Zeliff on March 14, 20112011-03-14
in Worth Reading

Luxury Living Frugal Style is sharing her new weekly series, “Men Save Money Monday” with us!

Most people think women when they think of couponers, but in our house hubby likes to save money too! He is not so much a coupon man, although he does very well and knows how catalinas, ECBs, Up+, RR ect work and needs little help if I send him on a shopping trip!

This Weeks “Men Save Money” tip is Newspaper Subscriptions. I love reading the Sports Weekly from USA Today, and used to buy it at the store each week, at a price tag of $2. I then learned I could have it delivered to my house for just $45 a year! That is a savings of $59 and I do not have to drive to the store and waste gas to get it!

A great way to save money on your weekly or daily papers is to get a subscription, not only does it save money but it saves time from having to take a trip to the store, unless you are already headed there with coupons in hand thanks to your coupon loving wife 🙂
