NEW FAKE COUPON ALERT

Below is a fake Tostitos coupon.  If you come across this coupon, DO NOT use it!  I work hard to ensure coupons I post are legitimate, but could make mistakes.  Always be conscious of coupons that are “too good to be true” unless they come directly from the manufacturers site.

EVEN IF YOU UNINTENTIONALLY REDEEM A FAKE COUPON YOU CAN BE CHARGED – $2,500 !!!

There are some red flags in this coupon that should let you know it is fake:

1) It is to good to be true

2) The expiration date – the better the deal there will be a shorter expiration date
UPC Code: 528400000821 0028400194153

See tips on How to Spot a Fake Coupon here

What are the penalties for coupon fraud?

Longest prison sentence: 17 years
Highest financial penalty: $5 million
Prison sentences of three to five years are not uncommon. Financial penalties generally vary, but have often been in excess of $200,000.

Thanks, CIC & Budget Savvy Diva!

Are there other warning signs we should be looking for to help identify fake coupons. When I first looked at the coupon nothing seemed out of the ordinary until I really looked at the date but I don’t think I would have noticed the barcode numbers.
