For some reason people tend to associate going green with going expensive. If anything, frugal green cleaners can help you live a less expensive lifestyle. Yet you don’t have to forgo quality because nature truly does provide everything you need to live a healthy and clean lifestyle. Nowhere is this more apparent than in your kitchen. Most of your cleaners are already there and you just don’t know it.

Frugal Green Cleaners from Your Kitchen:

Microwave Cleaner

Is your microwave filthy and in need of a good cleaning? Put the chemicals away because you don’t need them. Cleaning your microwave just turned into your easiest cleaning job for the day. Fill a coffee cup with water. Place it in the microwave. Press start and heat it up. Wipe clean. Yes, it really is that easy. As frugal green cleaners go, it doesn’t get any better than this. Be careful not to overheat the liquid or it can explode. To avoid this, you should microwave it in one minute intervals.

Remember all those fun projects you did with baking soda and vinegar? Now you can have fun while you clean with them. Vinegar and baking soda are great cleaners on their own. If they can’t do the job alone, just add them together for a more powerful cleaner. From shampoo to shower heads and drains, vinegar and baking soda clean everything naturally. Follow up with a lemon water spritz if you don’t like the smell of vinegar.

When Life Hands You Lemons…

Polish your furniture. Lemons are great cleaners on their own or when used with water. They can be used to remove stains or polish furniture. It doesn’t take much of this powerful citrus fruit to be an effective cleaner or polisher so be careful not to overdo it.

Window Cleaner

Combine vinegar, corn starch, rubbing alcohol, and water for the perfect glass cleaner that won’t leave streaks. Like any glass cleaner you buy, this also works for just about any shiny surface that needs a polish.

Coffee Pot Cleaners

Over time your coffee pot can turn a nasty brown color. While some people think this adds to the flavor of the coffee, most prefer a sparkling coffee pot to start the day. Your coffee pot should never even get to the dish water. It is unnecessary and can even be dangerous. If you want a sparkling clean coffee pot, all you need is ice and salt. You can also add a bit of real lemon juice for good measure. Put the ice in the pot and sprinkle it with a healthy coat of ice. Swirl the ice in the pot and watch the stains disappear. This even works for burnt on coffee.  Rinse with water and enjoy your sparkling coffee pot!

There are plenty of frugal green cleaners on the market as well. However, your kitchen is a great place to start stocking up.
