“Gooooooooooood Morning Hampton Roads Families!”
In case you haven’t heard, the crew from ABC’s Extreme Makover: Home Edition are on their way to Hampton Roads to build a deserving family a new house!
While they are here they have a secondary goal of helping fill the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, the Food Bank of the VA Peninsula and the Food Bank of the Albemarle. These foodbanks help thousands of families- and just like most foodbanks in the country their supply is running low and their demand is high.
So they are asking people to help by making donations at many local stores (to see a complete list click here). And as couponers we certainly know how to find enough greats deals to fill the foodbanks!
So a few local bloggers (me, Laura at A Frugal Chick, Lori at The Coupon Consultant and Sharon at Mom on Dealz) decided we wanted to do whatever we could do to help. And since we already work hard to provide you with the best deals around we thought we would sweeten the pot a bit.
From now until February 4th, 2011 you can make food donations at any of the drop off locations. We want to see who can make the best donation for $10 and then pay them back two-fold. Make a $10 donation and you could possibly get a $20 gift card to your grocery store!
Here are the rules:
1. You need to e-mail one of us a picture of your donation and your receipt.
2. The $10 can only be store deals and coupons. Catalina and gift card deals don’t count toward the $10 total.
3. We will be considering the percentage saved, the amount of food donated and the quality of food donated. Here are their top ten preferred items: Peanut Butter, Chunky Soups, Canned Meats, Canned Tuna, Canned Vegetables, Juice, Cereal, Macaroni and Cheese, Pasta and Pasta Sauce.
On February 5th we will compare all of our contestants and pick a winner. The winner will get a $20 gift card to their grocery store!
So put together your best donation possible and lets fill those food banks!

I comented on the coupon consultant but am asking here too. I cleaned out my pantry and am donating stuff from there. I don’t save all of my receipts anymore, but I do know about how much I spent on everything. Can I still enter without a receipt? Thank you.

I do not know if this is at every Farm Fresh or not, but when I dropped off today someone mentioned that there is a pick-up every monday, wednesday and friday. I asked if I could drop off there whenever I wanted and she said yes! I am excited because farm fresh is 1/4 mile from my house and normally I have to make a special trip to donate stuff.
Thanks! FF is so convenient. I’m in there every Wednesday (obviously) but usually once or twice more each week.
