Toys R Us Trip

sorry about the glare

I ran to Toys R Us to get a few games today.  I read about a gift card offer and mail in rebate for Hasbro games on CommonSensewithMoney.

I purchased Connect 4, Operation and Twister on sale for $8.99 each.  I printed the $5/1 Operation game coupon and used the $4/1 Connect 4 and $4/1 Twister coupons from the 03/21 insert. Make sure to check out the post HERE for details.

I paid $15.32 OOP and received a $5 Toys R Us-Hasbro gift card
I’ll submit for the Hasbro Game Rebate and get back $9
My total after coupon, gift card and rebate will be $1.32 for 3 games!

*I am a little agitated about the gift card because my plan was to immediately use the $5 on a couple items for the kids Easter baskets.  Oh no, the gift card states that it’s valid 6 hours after activation!  I think I should be able to use it at Babies R Us which is much closer to me.

My total today did end up being rather high, but I was expecting that to a degree.  Some items are for Freezer Cooking day.
I picked up a clearance bottle of Herbal Essence conditioner for $2 used $1/1 coupon=FREE. I remembered that I had a coupon for Herbal Essence Buy 1 shampoo, conditioner or styling products, get 1 styling products free, so I grabbed a bottle of spray gel @ $3.69.  The cashier should have taken off $3.69, but instead he took off $2.  I was bagging groceries and didn’t realize it until I got home. There’s not really anything I can do about it now.
Anyways, see my matchup here

CVS
I first have to say how great CVS is!  They were all out of the Colgate Total and Hershey’s candy for the sale.  I was told to pick a similar item, and I would receive the advertised price plus ECB’s.  I picked another Colgate Total that I could use my $1 off coupon with (expires today) and grabbed 6 bags of candy that fit my $2/3 Hershey coupon.  I was told you could substitute regular M&M’s for the Easter M&M’s that were sold out as well.
See the matchups HERE
Used 2 $4 ECB’s from a couple weeks ago.
Final OOP: $5.30
Amount Saved: $25.92
($18.92 CVS savings/ECB’s, $7 coupons)
Have $4 ECB and $2 ECB for next week
Note: I wouldn’t normally spend my ECB’s to get less ECB’s back, but I really needed the candy for the kids Easter egg hunts at school.
Target-No picture
2 Battleship Games

I picked up 2 Battleship games at Target today @ $9 each
Used $3/1 Target printable HERE
Used $4/1 printable HERE
Final: $2 each

I wanted the Connect 4 and Monopoly games too but they were sold out.  I know, shop before Saturday! I was able to get a raincheck for the Connect 4, so I’ll pick that up next week.

Final OOP: $4.60
Total Saved: $25.98
($11.98 Target savings, $14 coupon savings)

*”Monkeyboy” will get the $2 Battleship game and “LuLu” will get the $3 Connect 4 game in their Easter baskets!  Will have an extra of each to save as gifts.

My Farm Fresh Shopping Trip 03/17

by Dana Zeliff on March 17, 20102010-03-17
in Farm Fresh Weekly Ads, My Shopping Trip

Disclosure: This post may contain an affiliate link.

I’ve had some pretty embarrassing totals the past couple of weeks!
I’m rather upset with myself because of the GM cereal/Free milk Promo.  There was a disclaimer noted when I first walked into the store regarding this deal.  I read it and thought it meant that the Kix cereal (8.7oz) was now included in the promo.  I decided to add in that deal because even paying for the cereal, I still would “make” money when you factored in the milk.  NO!
See all the match ups HERE except:
Milk
2 bread
buttermilk-for Soda Bread tonight
Sugar
Jelly-not sure how I ran out of that!
Creta Farms Ham: reg price $3.05-$1/ 1/2 lb tearpad at deli counter=$1.05
2 Oreo Cakesters: sale $2.19-$1/1 printable (no longer available)=$0.38
Gold Metal Flour: reg price $ 2.28-$0.75/1 printable(no longer available)=$0.78
Nature’s Own thin Bagels: reg price $2.49-$0.75/1 printable HERE=$0.99
(Got a TON of produce!)
*round up for cure
Total Paid: $25
Total Saved: 17.49
(Pathetic, I know)
Maybe HT will be better-look for matchups tomorrow!

Walgreen’s and Expensive Harris Teeter Trip 03/15

by Dana Zeliff on March 15, 20102010-03-15
in Harris Teeter Weekly Ad, My Shopping Trip

Disclosure: This post may contain an affiliate link.

I took a combined photo
I’m posting more pictures as requested, but I also feel it’s good to show that I’m pretty “normal” in that not all of my grocery shopping consists of spending $2 on $50 worth of food.  I need/use other items that I just can’t get for free or $0.25.
The 2 Colgate Sensitive Toothpastes are from Walgreen’s.  See matchups HERE
2 transactions=$6.38 OOP
Received 2 $4 RR
Used 1 RR at HT, saving other for next week
See Harris Teeter matchups HERE
milk=$2.99
bread=$1.17
eggs (VIC price $2.59-$0.42=$2.17)
Doritos BOGO=$1.99
UTZ Tortilla Chips=$2
2 Campbell’s Select soup BOGO $2.45-$0.50 doubled Q=$1.45
NO Yolks BOGO – $0.75/1 Q doubled = FREE
Cabbage=$1.15
Oranges=$2.99
London Broil BOGO=$5.10 (2 meals)
Corned Beef=$7.36!!!!
Used $4 RR
Total Paid: $24.81
Total Saved: $26.31
($6.14 coupons, $20.17 VIC)
Purchased junk (chips) and it killed me to spend all that on the Corned Beef.  That went way over my $5 or less dinner budget.  I hope it’s worth it!  We invited friends over to join us, so it makes me feel a little bit better.
