My Farm Fresh Shopping Trip (07/20)

It was a great day to shop at Farm Fresh!  I love those Catalina offers.

I decided not to waste my $1/1 Bounty Basic Paper Towel coupon, so I picked up 1 package for $2.99 after coupon.  That’s about $0.37 per roll which is above my goal price but high value bounty coupons are rare.  I also bought the new Minute Maid juice for more than I would normally pay just because I wanted to try it.

Peaches $2.07
Zucchini $1.98
1 Bounty Paper Towel $2.99
1 Purex $3.99 – $1/1 mailer = $1.99 (plus earned $1 CAT)
2 Quaker Cereal $3 – $1/1 mailer = $2 (plus earned $2 CAT)
2 Emerald Trail Mix $1 (plus earned $1 CAT)
2 M&M’s $2 (plus earned $1 CAT)
2 Welch’s Essentials $1 (plus earned $1 CAT)
2 Minute Maid Enhanced $4 (plus earned $1 CAT)
2 Daminals $0.90 – had a $1/1 and a $0.55/1 peelie (plus earned $1 CAT)
2 Bailey’s Creamer FREE (plus earned $1 CAT)
2 Crest Toothpaste FREE (plus earned $1 CAT)
Used $2 CAT

Total Paid $19
Total Saved $34.10
Earned $10 CAT

Since I didn’t shop last week, I picked up milk, creamer, fruit and a few other odds and ends on Monday.  I spent around $17.  Other than eggs (which I forgot again today) I’m done shopping for the week.

How did you do?

One of my best weeks yet. trans 1 was cereals, granola bars, fiber one bars and brownies, yogurt, toothbrushes, toothpaste, coffee creamer–it would have been about $52 before coupons and sales. I paid $14.70 OOP before tax (would have been $14 if someone hadn’t bought all the fiber one brownies before 10am lol), received $14 back in CATS, money off gas of course AND two free gallons of milk worth up to 4.50 each. Crazy 🙂 I used the cats on transaction 2 which would have been about $48 before sales and coupons, I paid $6.28 before tax and earned more money off gas and I still have one milk coupon left.

I’m loving all the gas discounts too. I only got $0.05 off today though

Wish I would have done the GM deal now – free milk always puts a smile on my face 🙂

Huh I thought my reply posted. Ok, it would have been about $96 before sales and coupons today, but I paid just about $20 and still have a free gallon of milk coupon and 6 cents of gas. The first transaction was $52 worth of items for $14.70 (would have been $14 if someone hadn’t bought all the fibe rone brownies lol) and I got $14 back in catalinas, two milk coupons and the money off gas. GREAT coupon day!

Dana, with the Purex, was it JUST the laundry soap that gave you the CAT or any Purex product over a certain amount??

The only thing I see in the ad is the laundry soap. Unless they have the crystals marked in store as unadvertised, but I didn’t notice that.

My best score today from ff was the Healthy Choice soup. I used 2 coupons for 1.00 off of 2 which made all 4 of them free + 1.00 catalina. So I made 1.00. 🙂

I couldn’t find a Healthy Choice coupon. Guess I missed a good one. Love those moneymakers!

I had 2 transactions as my son was shopping with me. He had his own coupons and I had mine. Had everything lined up, matched, dates checked, ready to check out. No one behind me. Got my fav cashier, Danielle who says “I have been waiting for my favorite couponer today”. So she checks me out, #1 and I was at $21 by the time I used all my coupons, then handed her my free milk cat, which dropped that $4.50 and then $6 in cats from last week. So $10.50 and I got a lot of groceries plus 6 more cats from #1. My son put his stuff up, and handed her the coupons but he had the cats on top. When she got to the end, the poptart coupon would not scan $2 off 3. So I asked her to take them off. She voided them, scanned the cats and then coupons. Big mistake. Somehow the computer started to add back money and we were up in the $40 mark which was way wrong when I was down at $31 before coupons. So two managers came over, could not figure out what happened but manually took them off again. We ended up at $25 which is what I figured and then got $7 more in cats for another trip. Whew. I never had this happen. But it was a learning situation for me and my son. All in all a good shopping day at Farm Fresh.

WOW! That was a stressful shopping trip! I’m so glad they worked hard to get your transaction correct but what a lot of work.

I always hand my CAT’s last so that might be a tip for your son. It’s so great that he coupons with you. I can’t wait until my son gets a bit older. Using coupons is great for teaching children.

You ended up with a great savings after the big headache.

We have just moved to Norfolk from the Atlanta area, so I’m still learning the coupon policy at FF. Still baffled by why they limit 2 like coupons when they get paid by the manufacturer. Does anyone get that? Yesterday I earned $11 in Cats but have a question about using them. Most of the stores in ATL were like Wags where you have to have the same or more number of items as you do coupons. I didn’t see anything in the FF policy that states something similar, but I am trying to learn what is right and what isn’t. Can anyone help? Most of the Cats I got were worth $1, so that’ s a lot of items I’d need to make up for each one should that be required. Thanks!

Welcome to Hampton Roads! No Farm Fresh isn’t like Walgreens with needing the same # of items as coupons. You could purchase 3 packages of meet for $11 and use all 11 of your $1 CAT’s or just an expensive bag of dog food and use all those CAT’s.

They limit 2 like more for limiting the # of products 1 person can purchase. Helps with shelf clearing. That said, some stores allow multiple transactions.

Thanks Dana – that helps me a lot. I can understand the ‘shelf clearing’ concept as well. Sadly I was so used to buying 6-8 Sunday papers and getting multiples of many things for our local food pantry. I’ll have to relearn how I can still do that here in VA.
One other question if you don’t mind…
Do you know if any stores sell multiple copies of the Sunday paper with the coupons? Our Kroger stores did this (2 bound together for a reduced price) but I haven’t tried a Kroger here to see if they do it. Also, I tried getting extra paper copies at Dollar Tree, but the one I stopped in had no coupons in the paper. Do they not put coupons in those papers here? (Hopefully no one would steal them out of all of those papers.) I’m just trying to find a place to get more than one circular each week, and it’s hard!!

Unfortunately, we’ve had a lot of problems with insert theft. It’s really sad. The best thing to do is get multiple papers delivered. There have been Sunday’s when I can’t even find a paper at the store

Not too impressive of a trip yesterday. I mostly went for the 2 packages of the $2.99/lb. london broil & pullups = 2/$11.00! I also found Dukes mayo on sale for $2.88 & had a $0.55 coupon = $1.78
I wish I had done the GM deal. Anyone know how long the free milk CAT will last? I might try to go back…
