Quick Easy Biscuits
{Pin It}

Most biscuit recipes call for lard and that is something that I just don’t have on hand on a day to day basis.  If you need a quick easy biscuit recipe that you can whip up fast and tastes delicious, this version uses butter and is a great go-to recipe for simple biscuits.

The key to a great texture is to use ice cold butter, and handle the dough as little as possible. Flaky and buttery these biscuits go well with a variety of dishes from sausage gravy at breakfast to fried chicken at night.

Quick Easy Biscuits:

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp. Baking Powder
4 Tbsp. Butter, cold
½ tsp. Salt
¾ cup whole milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°
  2. Combine flour, salt, and baking soda, stirring well.
  3. Dice cold butter into small pieces.
  4. Incorporate butter quickly into flour using a pastry cutter or two forks to blend it in until it resembles fine crumbs.
  5. Add milk, stirring gently until just combined and forms a ball.
  6. Flip dough out onto flour covered surface.
  7. Flatten with your hands to 1/2” thickness, handling as little as possible.
  8. Use a glass dipped in flour to cut out biscuit shapes.
  9. Set biscuits so that the almost touch on a cookie sheet that has been buttered.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
  11. Makes 8 small or 4 large biscuits.
