Creepy Candle Holder:: PIN THIS ::

If you are looking to add a little Halloween glow to your home or office, this Creepy Candle Holder is the perfect solution. It only takes minutes to make, and everything you need can be found at your local dollar store.

The best part is, if you are tired of using it as a candle-holder, you can easily remove the votive and use it for a pencil holder. How nifty is that? Take a look below at how to make your own Creepy Candle Holder.

Supplies Needed:
Metal pencil holder
Battery operated votive
Hot glue, glue gun
Halloween garland

You will be able to find all of the above supplies at your local Dollar Tree. Just look in the Halloween décor, office supplies, and crafting aisles.

Directions:
1. To begin, apply a layer of hot glue around the top of the metal pencil holder. This is where you will attach your Halloween garland.
2. Cut a piece of Halloween garland to fit the circumference of the pencil holder. Press it to the hot glue strip. Press firmly to be sure it adheres.
3. Now, all you need to do is take a battery operated votive and place it inside. You will love how the light reflects off the Halloween tinsel!
4. When you are tired of using it as a votive holder, just take the votive out and replace it with office supplies.

Please note: It is advised that you only use a battery operated votive in this piece, as the garland and a real votive can cause a fire hazard.

Place this colorful candle holder anywhere you could use a little extra Halloween glow in your home. It would even look cute on an office desk or bedroom nightstand. So head to your local Dollar Tree and get these supplies so you too can get crafting!

Total Cost = $3
(assuming you already have a glue gun w/ glue sticks)

Package of googly eyes

That’s it! As mentioned, you can find all of these items at your local Dollar Tree store. Just look in the Halloween themed aisles and craft aisles.

Directions:
1. This craft really could not be any easier. Simply apply a generous dab of glue to the back of your large googly eye. You will notice that Dollar Tree sells a bag of these eyes all in different sizes, so for this craft make sure you use the largest eye size since they look best.

Halloween Dollar Store Craft: Bootiful Cupcake Cup Straw Skirts

by Dana Zeliff on October 10, 20132013-10-10

Cupcake Cup Straw Skirts-10

Don’t you think a straw is more fun to drink from when it is wearing a festive Halloween skirt? Of course you do!

That is why if you are getting ready for a children’s Halloween party or just a fun fall night in with the girls, you must make these Bootiful Cupcake Straw Skirts. These cuties are so fun and easy to make, and just like the rest of our cupcake cup crafts, they are frugal too!

Take a look below at how you can make your very own and sip your way into the Halloween season right!

Supplies Needed:
Assorted cupcake cups
Scissors
Straws

Directions:
1. For the sample picture, we used the Halloween straws available at our dollar tree. We simply removed the plastic pumpkins that were on them so all we had were plain orange straws.
2. Next, poke a hole in each cupcake cup. Right in the center is perfect.  A sharp pencil is really all you need to use to do this. You want to do enough so you can put at least 3 cups on each straw.
3. Now, use your scissors to fringe up the ends of your cupcake cups. This will give them a frilly and festive look. Use your fingers to ruffle them up a bit if you wish and really fluff them out.
4. All you need to do now is slip the skirts over the straws and pull into place. Mid center works out great and looks fantastic!

You can do these in a variety of colors and patterns or keep them all uniform. The choice is totally up to you of course and only limited by your own creativity. Give this simple craft a try and see how easy it is to make your own straw embellishments for your next party or gathering. This is one boo-tiful detail that will be sure to catch your guests eyes!

Total Cost = $2
(assuming you already have scissors)

Halloween Dollar Store Craft: Clever Cupcake Cup Owls

Clever Cupcake Cup Owls:: PIN THIS ::

Let’s face it: the owl craze is not going anywhere anytime soon.  This Halloween season don’t try to beat them,  join them with these DIY Clever Cupcake Cup Owls.

Easy to make and inexpensive too, these owls are sure to be a hoot of a time creating and add some real charm to your Halloween décor. Plus, kids will even enjoy this craft too. So why not gather them around the table and see how easy it is to create these Clever Cupcake Cup Owls?

Supplies Needed:
Assorted cupcake cups
Construction paper
Scissors
Glue

Don’t you love it when a craft only requires a handful of supplies like this one?

Directions:
1. First you will want to compose the body of the owl. To do this, pick 4-5 cups that you are going to loosely stack on top of each other.
2. To create the body, place each of the 4-5 cups on top of each other. You can either glue them in place as is, or add a small wadded up piece of paper in between each layer to create some height.
3. Next, let’s make some wings. To do this you want to either fold two cups in half creating a half moon, or fold them in half and then in half again to create more of a triangle shape. The choice is yours. Use a generous dab of glue to adhere the wings to the side of the body.
4. For your owl’s face, this is where the construction paper comes into place. Make two large circles for eyes and two smaller ones for pupils. You can also cut a simple triangle for a nose. Attach the pieces with glue to the front of your owl.
5. Lastly you are going to need some ears. You can either bend the cupcake cup as mentioned above into a triangle, or you can cut triangle ears from your construction paper. Glue into place.

Your owl is now all ready to be displayed. Prop him on a bookshelf or even your office desk. Kids will love showing their off and perhaps even giving them as gifts. Either way, these little guys are the perfect Halloween craft for anyone who loves owls and loves saving money! Give it a try!

Total Cost = $2
(assuming you already have scissors & glue.  You might even have construction paper on hand too)

in Crafts

Disclosure: This post may contain an affiliate link.

Cupcake Party Lights:: PIN IT ::

It’s not a party without twinkle lights, which is why this DIY project for Charming Cupcake Party Lights should be on your to do list.  These lights are so simple to make, yet they will look like something you picked up at a specialty shop. In no time flat you can have your very own custom Halloween party lights to light up the night and add some ghostly glow to your evening.

Supplies Needed:
Cupcake cups, regular size
Cupcake cups, small size
Hole punch or pencil
Strand of orange or regular twinkle lights

Directions:
1. To begin, take a hole punch or sharp pencil and poke a hole into the center of each cupcake cup.
2. You want the decoration on the cup to be displayed well, so in order for this to happy turn each cup inside out.
3. Now, you can begin stringing the cupcake cups on the light strand. Dollar Tree also sells orange light strands for just $1 as well, so if you do not have one on hand you can grab one there. To put the cups on, start by sliding a large cup over the bulb so the bulb comes through the hole you punched.
4. Add an extra layer of design by then stacking one of the smaller cups on top of the larger one you just placed on. It will almost have a flower effect.
5. You can now choose to ruffle your cupcake cups up a bit or even make small snips to them with scissors to give them a shabbied look. The choice is all yours of course, just get creative and do what works for you.

Once your cups are all in place all you need to do is plug your light strand in. That’s it! Your room will be glowing with the site of the season and just think…you made it all by yourself!

Note: Do NOT leave these on when you aren’t home or are asleep.  You do have lights near paper and could be a fire hazard if unattended!

Total Cost = $3
(assuming you already have a hole punch)
