Verizon FiOS: New TV Widget Review

I have been a Verizon FiOS customer for almost 4 years.  We even combined our cellphone service last year into the Quad Bundle to save even more money on our monthly bill.  My family switched to Verizon when it first became available in my area. We were excited to try the new fiber-optic network with low prices & are glad we did.

My entire family agrees the DVR is the best feature.  My husband and I don’t spend much time watching television, so we love to be able to fast forward through all the commercials.  More importantly, we can watch the shows we want to watch, on our schedule.  I like having the DVR for my children as well because I can control the shows they watch.  It’s much easier to put on a recorded cartoon and know the exact show they are viewing instead of having to monitor potential commercials and content.

Another reason I first switched to Verizon was the ability to have a wireless router at no extra cost.  It was a standard feature when I switched to Verizon, but was a paid option with my previous provider.  This allowed me to finally access the Internet from anywhere in my home!

We recently tried the new Widgets as part of this review.  Since I have been a Verizon subscriber for several years; I was familiar with the original widgets.  We frequently use the weather widget to quickly find our local weather.  Well, Verizon is adding more features to enhance your viewing pleasure.  We tried the Verizon FiOS TV Widget, Music Choice just this past week.

The Music Choice widget is easy to use and allows you to access your favorite music videos, rate songs and watch Music Choice original shows.  You can also listen to your selected music channel through the tv similar to listening to the radio.  My husband & I are able to listen to our favorite bands with just a few clicks of the remote.  I like easy!  But Verizon didn’t forget about the little ones.  They even have a kids only! station.  The Kidz Only! station includes a Justin Bieber video since he is apparently all the rage right now, and Kidz Bop which is also a hit in my house. Both my kids like to dance so this provided a little bit of extra entertainment while it was rainy outside.  Best of all?  The Verizon FiOS TV Widgets are FREE!

Not interested in Music Choice?  There are numerous other Widget such as Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and ESPN Fantasy Football.  All of these are free and can be accessed easily from the Widgets menu on your tv.

My family has enjoyed our Verizon FiOS service and has recommended it to friends and family.  Although, it is frustrating that every time we have moved or added a service, we have faced a price increase.  Other than that, we are very happy with our current service.

If you would like to give it a try, make sure you check here as Verizon FiOS is only available in select parts of the country.

What is your favorite Verizon FiOS feature?

I wrote this review while participating in a brand team campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Verizon FiOS. Verizon will send me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.

I wish I had a good answer for you. I would call and see what they can offer based on the services available in your area. At the very least you may be able to get a promotional discount. I have a $10 monthly credit for year plus another $5 credit for 6 months for something else.
